Adorable Preemie Twin Girls Playfully Pose for Creative Portraits


Though they’re only eight months old, twins Leia and Lauren have already stolen the hearts of thousands on Instagram. Their parents are Singaporeans Amber Yong and Peter Lok, who initially decided to create an Instagram account for their girls “as a medium to document their growing journey.” They felt “it was a perfect platform to share these [photos] with our friends, family, and like-minded parents.” Thanks to Lok’s passion for photography and Yong’s love of styling, their project soon artistically evolved and the family’s followers grew.

Before long, Yong and Lok’s series went viral and the parents told TODAY, “[We’re] just glad that [Leia and Lauren] bring so much joy and positivity to their followers.” They also revealed that the girls are MOMO twins, which means that they shared the same amniotic sac in the womb. “It is an extremely high-risk pregnancy,” said Lok. “Therefore, they were delivered two months premature (not many realized that they are actually preemies).” Lok also mentions that, since then, his girls have grown to become healthy, happy infants.

This Cocktail Proves Easter Candy and Champagne are a Killer Combo


Easter Candy + Champagne (and some other yummy accoutrements) = Speckled Egg Mimosas.  And that, my friends, is how you do candy as an adult. These pretty mimosas from The Effortless Chic are perfect for left overs from Easter baskets and pretty enough to take center stage for brunch. Top with edible flowers and you’re good to go.

My favorite entertaining recipes are ones that may look fancy and creative, but are actually easy and breezy like this ‘Speckled Egg Mimosa’. The Easter cocktail that looks just as good as it tastes and couldn’t be easier to make!

Serves 4Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 8 blackberries
  • 1 bottle of champagne
  • 1 bag of speckled egg candies
  • 1 handful of edible flowers for garnish (available at Trader Joe’s and other markets!)

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil and add sugar. As soon as the sugar has begun to dissolve, add the black berries and muddle to break them up and release the color.The ratio of water to sugar in this syrup is pretty diluted. The fruit adds extra sweetness and champagne is already a little sweet on it’s own, so it really doesn’t need much. Allow to simmer for 3-5 minutes then remove from heat.
  2. Once cool, drain the syrup into a glass pitcher through a strainer.
  3. To assemble the mimosas, place three speckled eggs in the bottom of each glass.
  4. Top each glass with about 2 ounces (or one shot) of blackberry simple syrup.
  5. Fill the remaining portion of the glass with champagne and then top with edible flowers!

Зоологи из Чехии исследовали рацион зимородков в течение 14 лет. Кроме рыб им удалось обнаружить в гнездовых погадках (отрыгнутых остатках пищи) останки не только водных насекомых, но и кузнечиков, бабочек, тритона и даже сухопутной ящерицы. Правда, такие случаи очень редки, и ученые полагают, что нерыбную добычу зимородки ловят по ошибке.

Artist Fills Massive Inflatable Dome with Tremendous 360° Landscape Drawings


Oscar Oiwa’s newest immersive display spans the entire interior of a massive vinyl inflatable dome. The Brazilian-born Japanese artist is globally recognized for his large-scale installations and this piece, Oiwa Island 2, is an impressive addition to his expansive portfolio. With a quaint seaside cottage painted in, and life-like depictions of the skyline and forest that make up the Setouchi landscape in Japan, the artwork unfolds into a stunning 360 degree panoramic vision.

The air dome is set to be installed within a building that was previously used as a soy sauce warehouse. The display is also interactive— the painted door on the side of the dome is the actual door through which guests may enter and admire the massive black-and-white scrawls that cover the entire structure. The 40-ft diameter inflatable piece is located in Shōdoshima.

The installation was created for the 2016 Setouchi Triennale, which begins on March 20, 2016. The giant art festival spans 12 islands in the area and includes 68 pieces completed by respected artists, designers, and architects from all around the world. Oiwa himself has another artwork on display at the festival: The room inside of the room, located on Ogijima, which also seeks to toy with one’s perspective.

Woman Accidentally Discovers Rare 2,000-Year-Old Roman Coin While Hiking


On a recent trip to Israel, a visiting hiker stumbled across a world-class find. Near an archaeological ruin in eastern Galilee, Laurie Rimon caught sight of this amazingly well-preserved antique coin as she was getting up from a short rest period. She showed the piece to her guide who confirmed it was indeed a rare discovery, and then sent images to the master of the local antiquities organization.

After examination, it was determined that the gorgeous coin dates back to 107 A.D. and is the second of its kind to have been found in the world. It displays the likeness of the first emperor of the Roman Empire, Augustus. “It’s extremely exciting to find something like this. There are no other coins of Trajan in gold in the north, and we don’t really know what was going on at the beginning of the 2nd century C.E. as regards to the Roman presence,” Dr. Donald T. Ariel, head curator of the coin department at the Israel Antiquities Authority, explains. “I don’t know of a coin of this value coming into the state treasury in the past 30 years.”
